more bunnies

This chestnut colored dwarf is the child of the other current mother doe in the rabbitry.  Currently un-named this is the third definite show rabbit in the rabbitry.  (along with Gremlin - who's picture I've posted, and Sodapop, a otter colored buck who is part of the rabbitry.)

You might notice that the ears on this rabbit are not a long proportionally as those that Keiko (pictured yeaterday) has.  This is part of why I called Keiko a "BUD".  Netherland dwarf rabbits that are show quality have one dominant dwarfish gene, and one regular gene.  But the dwarfish gene is a lethal if the rabbit gets 2 of the gene.  Also a dwarf "show quality" female often stuggles to give birth because of her small size.  So many breeders keep good looking, but non-dwarf does around and breed them to show quality males.  Usually you get half dwarf and half "Big Ugly" rabbits.  (the BUD stands for Big Ugly Doe - although I'd argue that Keiko is still cute.)

Just a little fact to interest those learning about rabbits and shows.
